The Starting Positions

Last weekend we really were people with energy as we donned our helmets, revved our engines and raced around Ellough Park in go carts! Along with sports presenter Jake Humphrey and eighty other wacky racers, we were at the Beccles raceway for an Endurance Go-Kart Race organised by Norwich City FC’s Community Sports Foundation, we proudly sponsored the charity event and had great fun too.

As sponsors of the event we had the enviable starting position of second place, we had high hopes for winning as we sped along the opening straight however by the time we’d come out of the first bend we were already towards the back of the pack. Unfortunately, we weren’t as well practiced as our opponents and ended up in last place! Beccles raceway is just around the corner from our office, so we’ll definitely be getting in some track time before the next event!

The race was a fundraising event to help the Community Sports Foundation raise £2.5m towards the cost of building a new multi-purpose community facility in Horsford. The charity helps over 38,000 people every year achieve their goals through sport, supporting some of the most disadvantaged, disabled and talented people across Norfolk. Building the Nest will enable CSF to reach even more people in Norfolk, the centre will have an indoor sports hall, gymnasium, floodlit 3G football pitch and classroom facilities.

There are many more fundraising events planned over the next few months, find out how you can get involved on the Community Sports Foundation website. Read more about the event here.
