Permanent Roles for Lead Discipline Engineers at Aquaterra

Posted on: 03/08/2022

lead discipline engineer

We are pleased to be recruiting for Aquaterra Energy, who have their global headquarters in Norwich. Aquaterra was founded in 2005 and quickly became a leading and preferred supplier to the oil & gas industry. They have developed several innovations around offshore oil & gas platforms and riser systems, which changed those markets and are still in demand. It also led to the company developing into the fields of decommissioning and renewable energy, including: CCS, green hydrogen, and offshore wind.

Due to the continued success of their offshore structure division, we are recruiting for Lead Discipline Engineers with a background in the Topside EPIC sector for permanent roles. You can come from a piping, process, electrical, or control and instrumentation background.

You will hold responsibility for the successful delivery of design and engineering for your discipline across all projects in the business unit, ensuring delivery on time and to agreed budget; providing direction to all staff under your discipline.

We’re looking for experienced discipline engineers who are prepared to relocate to the area and can bring experience across a broad range of projects. A generous relocation package is on offer and you need not already be at lead level. The roles also offer hybrid working between Aquaterra’s offices and your home office.

You’d be reporting to Aquaterra’s General Manager for their Offshore Structures division, Robert Watt. Robert himself relocated to the Norwich area from Scotland in order to pursue his career in the oil & gas sector. Here’s what he had to say:

Robert Watt

“Hi, my name is Robert Watt. I have worked in the oil & gas industry since 1984. I started my career as an instrument engineer, moving through project management and into general management.

Having spent the first 20 years of my career in Aberdeen, I started to look for a new position further afield to help broaden my horizons. Luckily I landed a new job in Norfolk and with a relocation package moved the family down to Norwich.

Like the northeast of Scotland, the East Anglian region of England has a long heritage in farming and fishing. Also, it is steeped in history from the Roman times, through Anglo-Saxon / Viking ages, and the Norman period post-1066.

The weather is certainly more clement. International travel for work or vacation is very easy, with London and Amsterdam both just a skip and a jump away. From here I have worked in the Netherlands, Russia, and the USA, and I continue to work globally.

Now the East of England has become a hotspot for all the energy transition projects in the Southern North Sea region.

So since 2006, Norwich has been my home - a fine city indeed. Lots of greenery, an abundance of clean parks and beaches close by for sport, plenty of nice restaurants and bars, and multi-cultural international entertainment all year around.

Should you get the opportunity to relocate here, I would certainly recommend it!”

So, if you’re a Senior Discipline Engineer, with experience of EPIC Topside projects, and have been considering relocating to a different part of the UK in pursuit of a better quality of life, then the combination of everything that Norwich & Norfolk has to offer, with the opportunity to join an entrepreneurial and forward thinking energy engineering company like Aquaterra ticks all your boxes.

For more details of what’s on offer, and a confidential conversation, please email richardjeffery@peoplewithenergy.co.uk and he will respond to you.
