Configuration Lead

Location: Ipswich, , UK Type: Permanent Vacancy Pay: £75,000.00 - £82,500.00 Per Year Reference: 26-00018

Configuration Lead | Shape one of the UK’s most critical nuclear programmes and drive change at national scale.
 
Introduction
 
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of configuration management on a flagship nuclear megaproject supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. You will play a pivotal role in establishing technical clarity, controlling change, and safeguarding project baselines within a highly complex, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of configuration management plans.
  • Develop and improve CM procedures, standards, guidance, tools, and templates.
  • Define configuration item criteria and oversee CI identification and records.
  • Establish and maintain baselines, change control, audits, and status accounting.
  • Administer change control processes and support approval workflows.
  • Produce Configuration Status Reports to inform management decisions.
  • Train, coach, and mentor CM Engineers and programme teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical, and programme stakeholders.
  • Work with Engineering Data and IM teams to embed CM requirements in systems.

 
 
Qualifications & Requirements
 

  • Proven experience delivering configuration management on large, complex programmes.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles in multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Ability to design practical CM processes aligned to project needs.
  • High levels of accuracy, organisation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience in major infrastructure, energy, or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of CM standards such as ISO 10007 or EIA 649 (desirable).
  • Experience with PLM tools (desirable).
  • CM certification or engineering degree (desirable).
  • Nuclear or EPR project experience (desirable).
