Electrical Design Engineer

Our client designs, manufactures and supplies rugged, precision built machines and wirelines for the oil and gas industry. We are currently recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer, who will design electrical systems for offshore wireline equipment (including full CAD drawing), at the workshop in Harleston. This is a 6 month contract role.

The role will involve :

Undertaking research
Attending meetings with clients to discuss their bespoke build specifications
Designing the complete electrical system including any DNV or ATEX/UL requirements
Testing and measuring the performance of electrical systems
Communicating the designs and drawings to workshop and giving feedback on design
Liasing with the mechanical design team to produce an overall designed piece of equipment
Receiving and filing all relevant certification documents (assembling and documenting for the certification and IOM manual, and writing electrical procedures for the equipment user and certification manuals)
Final testing and setting up in the workshop.
Keeping up to date with the latest regulations
Solving complex problems
Liaising with suppliers and client
Recommending modifications for systems

Key skills required :

Degree level B.Sc Eng or equivalent
IT literate
Knowledge of DNV 2.7-2
ATEX & pressurisation equipment along with HVAC
Good understanding of hazardous areas
Knowledge of certification requirements for US market, U/L, class and division, NEC
Knowledge of Mitsubishi PLC controls an advantage, but not essential
Strong initiative
Project management and design
Testing and troubleshooting
Team player with ability to work on your own
